Our series continues where we ask leading specialists about themselves and their field.

Today we're in conversation with Fiona Fernie. We're thrilled to be collaborating with veteran stylist (think Jigsaw, Ted Baker, Netflix) Fiona who has worked her styling magic on some of our favourite pieces.

We love her ethos, to 'empower individuals to feel confident and comfortable in their choices' - very Cucumber!

Fiona, you are a stylist. What actually does a stylist do?

As a stylist, my role is to curate and enhance the visual appearance of individuals or productions. I work closely with clients to understand their personal style, body type, and lifestyle, offering guidance on clothing choices and overall aesthetics. Whether it's creating a capsule wardrobe, providing fashion advice, or contributing to the visual storytelling in film and TV productions, my aim is to elevate and communicate a compelling narrative through style.

What are your three top tips for every woman getting dressed?

* Know Your Body: Understand your body shape and accentuate your strengths. This can guide you in choosing clothing that flatters your figure.

* Invest in Versatile Pieces: Build a wardrobe with versatile, timeless pieces that can be mixed and matched for various occasions. This forms the foundation of a functional and stylish closet.

* Express Your Personality: Don't be afraid to incorporate elements that reflect your personality into your outfits. Fashion is a form of self-expression, so embrace styles that resonate with you!

What are you most proud of?

I take immense pride in the diverse experiences I've gained throughout my career. From collaborating with top brands and styling over a hundred clients to contributing to the costume departments of noteworthy productions, each opportunity has contributed to my growth as a stylist. What brings me the most satisfaction is the positive impact I've had on individuals, helping them feel confident and comfortable in their personal style - that's the real win.

What are you working on now and where next?

Currently, I'm focused on expanding my online presence and offering virtual styling services to reach a broader audience. I'm also exploring new collaborations in the fashion and entertainment industries. Looking ahead, I aim to continue evolving as a stylist, exploring innovative ways to connect with and empower individuals through style.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to change up their style?

Embracing a new style is an exciting journey. Start by assessing your current wardrobe and identifying key pieces that resonate with the style you aspire to. Experiment with small changes first, like incorporating accessories or trying new colour palettes. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone, and most importantly, let your style evolve organically. If needed, seek guidance from a stylist to navigate the process smoothly and confidently. Remember, style is a personal expression, so enjoy the process of discovering and embracing the looks that make you feel your best.
